MOON RIVER ~ ANDY WILLIAMS

*****************************
Grammy Song Of the Year 1962
*****************************

"Moon River" is a song composed by Johnny Mercer (lyrics) and Henry Mancini (music) in 1961, for whom it won that year's Academy Award for Best Original Song. It was originally sung in the movie Breakfast at Tiffany's by Audrey Hepburn, although it has been covered by many other artists. The song also won the 1962 Grammy Award for Record of the Year.It became the theme song for Andy Williams, who first recorded it in 1961 and performed it at the Academy Awards ceremonies in 1962. He sang the first eight bars at the beginning of his television show and also named his production company and venue in Branson, Missouri after it. Williams' version was disliked by Cadence Records president Archie Bleyer, who believed it had little or no appeal to teenagers. Andy Williams' version never charted, except as an LP track, which he recorded for Columbia in a hit album of 1962. The song's most famous line, "...my huckleberry friend...", was not a reference to Mark Twain's Huck Finn. Rather, Mercer had originally titled the song "Blue River" (changing it only after recalling another song with the same title), and the initial lyrics contained many references to that color. Although Mercer dropped most of the blue references in his revised lyrics, he kept the huckleberry in simply because he liked how it sounded.

Other versions were recorded by Mantovani, Peter Nero, Connie Francis, and the Duprees, who sang the theme with lyrics written by Pat Boone. Other artists include Gospel pianist Anthony Burger (in the Gaither Vocal Band's "I Do Believe"), singer Edith Piaf who used french lyrics, Classical pianist Maksim Mrvica and T.I. as a sample for Bankhead. Trey Spruance of the Secret Chiefs 3 rescored the theme for "surf band and orchestra" on the album 2004 Book of Horizons. Howard Stern uses it for comedic effect when discussing aspects of Jewish life. A sample of the Exodus was used also in Ice-T´s song Exodus from the Album 7 Deadly Sin, and Nas's song "You're Da Man" from the album Stillmatic. A portion of the main title was included in a montage arranged by composer John Williams and performed at the 2002 Academy Awards ceremony.

Fashion od the Past Decades

Styles and fashions keep on evolving from time to time. Hair styles most especially, changes every decades. Each decade had its own unique style and they come in every shape, color and material you can imagine. Remember that curls and bangs of the 60’s, the retro style of the 70’s, the punky and futuristic hairs of the 80’s (think of Cyndi Lauper), the simple and neat style of the 90’s and the modern hair styles of today. You can even change your hair color using those hair dyes. From brunette, you can change your hair into blonde in an instant. But we have to be very careful in using hair dyes because the frequent use of such product can cause dry hair. Dry hair can make you feel itchy and uncomfortable. It makes your hair dull and frizzy. Other chemicals that can damage your hair aside from hair dyes include bleach, perms, relaxers and straighteners. Well in every problem, there’s always a solution. You can remedy your dry hair using specialized dry hair products. These dry hair products will moisturized your hair and bring its normal and healthy condition. Being “in” is not bad as long as you know how to handle it properly.

THE BATTLE OF NEW ORLEANS

*****************************
Grammy Song Of the Year 1960
*****************************

"The Battle of New Orleans" is the name of a song written by Jimmie Driftwood. The song details the 1815 Battle of New Orleans from the perspective of an American fighting alongside Andrew Jackson against British forces, but the tone is lighthearted. It has been recorded by many artists, but the one most often associated with this song is Johnny Horton. His version topped the Billboard Hot 100 in 1959 (see 1959 in music). In Billboard magazine's rankings of the top songs in the first fifty years of the Billboard Hot 100 chart, "The Battle of New Orleans" was ranked as the twenty-eighth song overall and the number-one country song to appear on the chart. The melody has its roots in a well-known American fiddle tune "The 8th of January", which was the date of the Battle of New Orleans. Jimmie Driftwood, a school principal in Arkansas with a passion for history, set a historical account of the battle to this music in an attempt to get students interested in learning history. It worked, and Driftwood became well known in the region for his historical songs. He was "discovered" in the late 1950s by Don Warden, and eventually signed to a recording contract by RCA, for whom he recorded 12 songs in 1958, including "The Battle of New Orleans".

A Big Turn Off

Having a dry, dull and damaged hair is such a big turn off for a guy like me. No matter how good your dress is and no matter how clean you are, dry hair can still ruin everything. This is what my big problem is. I have been looking for the best hair care products to help me get rid of this unhealthy hair condition but it seems that nothing works effectively to me. According to my friends, i might be using wrong hair products for my hair. Before you buy any item for your hair, you have to know first what your hair type is. There are hair products specifically made for a certain hair condition. So you have to know first whether you have an oily, frizzy, dry, fine thick hair, then seek for the right item to cure it.

The song became widely known as "Volare", from its refrain, and reached the top of the charts all over the world through translations into various languages: "Воларе (Volare)" in Russian; "Dans le bleu du ciel bleu" in French, "En el azul del cielo" in Spain, "Jouw ogen" in Belgium, "Taivaan sinessä" in Finland and "Azul pintado de azul" in Brazil and Latin America.

The Effect of Dr yers, Rollers and Irons

If you use hair dryers, curling irons or hair straightener every more often, then you might be putting your hair at risk. Frequent usage of those heat styling tools including dryers, hair rollers, and irons can damage your hair so bad. Damage hair can make your hair look dull, dry and frizzy which is very unhealthy. This is the reason why you should always include hair conditioner as a part of your everyday hair care routine. Using conditioner, you can bring your hair back to its healthy condition and protects it from those harmful elements at the same time. It will sure provide moisture making your hair looks healthy, shiny and smooth. You can also visit the nearest salon in your area from time to time, to maintain its healthy condition or ask a cosmetology some tips about proper hair care and ask some products or brands that he or she can refer to you.

Being Practical

Nowadays, we really have to be very practical in our decisions especially now that we are experiencing global financial crisis. You really don't have to be very luxurious all the time especially when it comes to buying items or products. Just like in buying clothes, you do not have to wear and buy those branded clothes, there are clothes being sold in the market or malls that are lesser in price but provides the same quality and feeling of comfortability. Instead of buying a brand new or expensive car, why don't you try buying used car? They are cheap yet performs well as long as you bought it from a well trusted used car dealer. You can also make that car more appealing by replacing some of its parts to items that you can buy from scrapyards like that Auto Wrecking Seattle shop. they sure have something for your car and make it look like brand new again. Well, there's nothing wrong in buying cheap and recycled items as long as they provide the same quality when you use it. Well again, that's just being practical and being practical is such a wise option.

A trouble Along the Way

I just went to a party last Friday and i was able to see some of my friends and former high school classmates on that event. I also get a chance to see their cars. In fact, we had a discussion about their autos and tell us how much they've bought it. It is very undeniable that all of us there love cares and it's funny to see how serious they face whenever they heard something about cars. LOL. One of them told us that he just bought a new car accessory and upgraded his gps system for his car. I do not have a car of my own but my dad used to let me borrow his Honda Civic every time i will be attending a special occasion like this. I remember one day, i borrowed his car and drive it all the way to Baquio City. However, while i was on the middle of my driving, the engine starts to malfunction for some reason. I do not know how to fix any car related problems so i just ask for help from an auto repair shop. I am very thankful that i was able to seek help from a repair shop like that auto repair spokane has. they were able to fix the issue in no time and i was able to go back safe and sound. Oh i didn't tell this to my dad too LOl so that he can let me borrow this car again.

**************************

"Faithfully" is a popular song and power ballad by the band Journey, and the second single from their album Frontiers. It peaked at #12 on the Billboard Hot 100, giving the band their second consecutive top twenty hit from Frontiers. The music and lyrics were written by keyboardist Jonathan Cain an performed by Steve Perry. While the song was relatively successful on the charts, it has gone onto become one of their most recognizable songs, and has enjoyed lasting popularity. The song describes the relationship of a "music man" on the road. The difficulties of raising and maintaining a family, two strangers having to fall in love again, and staying faithful while touring are brought up. However he suggests that he gets the "joy of rediscovering" her, and insists "I'm forever yours... Faithfully."The music video featured a "life on tour" theme parallel to the song's lyrics, showing the band's performances in different venues and their travels around the USA. Steve Perry can be seen shaving his short-lived but talked-about moustache in the video. This video utilized footage from the documentary video Journey: Frontiers and Beyond narrated by John Facenda, voice of NFL Films, shortly before he died. The concept of the "road video" has been utilized by several other bands, including Bon Jovi, Guns N' Roses, Genesis, Mötley Crüe and Richard Marx. The song was performed by Lea Michele and Cory Monteith in the first season finale of Glee, along with several other Journey songs in the same episode.

"Better Get to Livin'" is the first single from Dolly Parton's album, Backwoods Barbie, and was released on August 28, 2007. It was the first single released by Parton's own record label, Dolly Records. An upbeat country pop song, its lyrics deal with keeping a positive attitude and overcoming negative emotions. The song garnered positive reviews from critics and reached number 48 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. A video for the song, featuring Parton and Amy Sedaris, was released later that year.Critics gave the song positive reviews. Jim Malec, writing for The 9513, remarked that the song "should have been a hit… Dolly sounds as good (maybe better) than she ever has." Jac Chebatoris of Newsweek considered it "the CD's standout tune", and remarked that Parton's voice on the track is "still powerful and clear after all these years." Allmusic was somewhat less enthusiastic, deeming the song "cloyingly wise", but "catchy enough". Chris Jones, writing for the BBC's online service, remarked on the song's feminist undertones, characterizing it as "a strident ode to the lessons that Parton's learned in a lifetime spent in an arena where men most definitely are men and women are expected to be grateful."The music video for "Better Get to Livin'" is set in a carnival, filmed on location at a farm in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. The video begins with Parton putting on her make-up while a hawker, played by Amy Sedaris, tells everyone to gather around. Parton comes out and begins singing to the depressed women in the audience. The next segment has Parton comforting a friend in the kitchen of her house. The video then returns to the carnival where Parton is running a projector showing an old-fashioned silent movie. In the movie, a fortune-teller (also played by Sedaris) is telling Parton's friend all the things that are wrong with her life. Parton then sings to the women in the audience about how to cope with their problems by keeping a good attitude. At the end, everyone leaves the carnival with their spirits lifted.

Bringing that Confident Smile Back

I had this dental operation called "Pasta". It is almost similar to the process known as "Jacketing" but provides temporary effects. It fills out those damaged tooth structure and restore the damages tooth. They implant a synthetic material to replace the damage tooth. Well, the operation turns out so well and i was able to bring that confident smile back to me. My front incisors got damaged after eating a hard food. The dentist told me that i "pasta" provides a temporary effect only and will bring my tooth condition back. He suggested me to go back after a few months so that he can perform "Jacketing" which provides a long lasting or even a life time event. I was lucky that i have landed to a good dentist like those best Dentists Vancouver WA has. Finally, i can smile now without any hesitation LOL. Have a great day everyone and happy blogging!

Black Friday Shopping Rush

We only have few days left before the much awaited Shopping rush of the year! It’s Black Friday next week and i assumed most of you are preparing your budget to shop for toys and other Christmas items. Black Friday is considered as one of the busiest shopping season of the year. This is the day when business establishments, malls and other shopping centers cut off the prices of some selected items on such a very low price. It is not surprising to see a huge crowd waiting for the mall to open. Well, we cannot blame the crowd especially that most items can be bought in such a very low prize that’s why they are grabbing this once a year opportunity to shop at a very low cost. I hate shopping a lot but when it comes to Black Friday, i just can’t miss the event and go to the nearest mall and shop.
Malls every Black Friday open as early as 4 am and i just hope they will assign some crowd control agents to prevent any worst case scenario including the possible stampede. Or maybe they can place some equipment there to organize the event properly and safely. Besides, they can just put some barricades so that people can be aware that they are not allowed to go to the other side and vice versa.
The huge amount of crowd are hard to control but the mall can still protect some of their items by placing stanchions and velvet rope around the selected item to protect it from getting damage. Black Friday is such a great event but everybody is panicking or rushing around just to get their desired item, the event can be disastrous. So in order to prevent any worst case scenario, I think the mall should do some crowd control practices and actions. And of course, we buyers should practice self discipline too to make this event entertaining and safe.

Medical Malpractices

We keep hearing news about some medical malpractices where doctor, surgeons or other related fields failed to perform their duties well. There's no such thing as excuses when it comes to a sensitive medical operation. Doctors were trained for such a long period of time and they have no rights to be on that position unless they really master their skills and profession. Surgeons for example should treat their patients as exactly what the patients want that is why it is quite alerting to see those medical malpractices which ruined their patients figure. I remember there was a report about a woman who undergone cosmetic surgery but ends up with a disastrous outcome. Same thing goes with major operating procedures like hip transplant for example. Hip Transplant is such a sensitive operation and any single mistake on the operation will take the patient into a nightmare. Well, good thing they can fight for their rights by filing DePuy hip lawsuit against those irresponsible doctors. We should all be aware of these issues and we have to make sure that we will be dealing with a well trusted doctors or surgeons before undergoing any medical operation.

How True The Rapture Is

If you are a Christian, I assumed you are aware about The Rapture of the Church and what does it mean. There's no date provided in the bible when exactly this rapture will happen but the what so called resurrection of the Death, changing the life of those humans, setting them free from the earthly sins and to live an eternal life with God has been very clear and has been mentioned several times in the bible. This may sounds frightening to some people but according to our pastor, we should have nothing to worry and there should be nothing to be afraid of. In fact, this is the event that we should all look forward to because this is the time when God will take us to his heavenly paradise where we will all live eternally.

Knowing more about Infrared and Infrared Saunas

Have you ever heard of the term "Infrared"? How about an "infrared sauna"? Well, i first heard this term when i bought my very first cellphone. I remember there was this infrared system or device that allows users to communicate to each other in a single mobile application like games. But it lost th limelight as the what so called "bluetooth" was developed which provides wider function than infrared. However, i am still confused with this infrared system and i do not have any idea how does it really works. According to a website, it is an electromagnetic radiation of a wavelength longer than that of visible light but shorter that of radio waves. It is said that this radiating energy can penetrates the body and heats it directly and more efficiently through a process called conversion. The sun is an example of a principle source of infrared radiant energy which we encountered daily. This infrared radiant energy can also be healthy for our body once it is absorbed. No wonder why modern saunas today are using this technology. Modern infrared saunas are very recommendable to prevent any ailments and possible diseases, weight loss, detoxifying harmful toxins and more! In fact, i have also heard that this saunas can help prevent patient from getting cancer and other illnesses.
