TRUE COLORS ~ CYNDI LAUPER

"True Colors" is a song written by songwriters Billy Steinberg and Tom Kelly. It was both the title track and the first single released from Cyndi Lauper's second album. It was the only original song on the album that Lauper did not help write. Billy Steinberg originally wrote "True Colors" about his own mother. Tom Kelly altered the first verse and the duo submitted the song to Cyndi Lauper. It reached #1 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, #3 in Australia, and #12 on the UK Singles Chart. "True Colors" also became a legend of its own in the gay community. Lauper embarked on a True Colors Tour in 2007 with several other acts including Deborah Harry and Erasure. The tour was for the Human Rights Campaign to promote human rights in the US and beyond. A second True Colors tour occurred in 2008. In 1998, the song was covered by Phil Collins for his compilation album ...Hits. The version was a smooth-jazz-influenced version compared to the original. R&B singer Babyface provided backing vocals.

TELEPHONE ~ LADY GAGA & BEYONCE

This is my last Gaga Entry for this month. We will be hitting Barry Manilow songs next month. "Telephone" is a song by Lady Gaga from her second studio album The Fame Monster, featuring Beyoncé Knowles. The main inspiration of the song was Gaga's fear of not being able to enjoy herself because of her dedication to her career. The lyrics portray the singer as preferring the dance floor, rather than answer her lover's phone calls. Musically, the song consists of an expanded bridge, verse-rap and an epilogue where the line is disconnected. Knowles appears in the middle of the song, singing the verses in a rapid-fire way, accompanied by double beats. "Telephone" was appreciated by contemporary critics who frequently noted it as a stand-out track from The Fame Monster. Gaga explained that the music video is a continuation of the video for "Paparazzi", and is also shot as a short film. The video features Gaga in a prison, from where she gets bailed out by Beyoncé. They go to a diner where, after a series of events, they kill the guests having breakfast. It ends with Gaga and Beyoncé escaping from the police. (Info taken from Wikipedia.com)

I DROVE ALL NIGHT ~ CYNDI LAUPER

"I Drove All Night" is a song written by Billy Steinberg and Tom Kelly for Roy Orbison. Orbison first recorded the song in 1987, but his rendition was not released until 1992, after the song had become a top 10 hit on both sides of the Atlantic for Cyndi Lauper in 1989. As '80s swan songs go, this one is quite respectable indeed. Lauper's last album of the decade, 1989's A Night to Remember, was not particularly memorable, but this sultry, driving rock tune certainly deserved its No. 6 pop hit status and projected a convincing if possibly belated image of the singer as a mature, fully adult artist. The sexually charged material alone thrusts Lauper into a different dimension, but the real highlight here is her complex, aching vocal performance, one that thankfully gets center stage from producer Phil Ramone, with minimal instrumental clutter. The song has been covered by Pinmonkey (2002) and Céline Dion (2003). John Waite recorded the song in 1986-87 while recording tracks for the CD Rovers Return but decided not to release it. American rock singer and former American Idol contestant, Carly Smithson, covered the song during the semi-finals of the show during a week inspired by the music of the 1980s.

CHANGE OF HEART ~ CYNDI LAUPER

"Change of Heart" is the second single released by Cyndi Lauper from her second album, True Colors in 1986. The single went gold in the US and peaked at #3 in the Billboard Hot 100. The song has become a fan favorite and Lauper still often performs it. Lauper re-recorded it acoustically, and her official site later made it available free as a digital download.Unbelievably cheesy instrumentation and production cannot hide the fact that this is yet another songwriting and singing triumph for Lauper. But it is irritating that the track's incredibly dated sound does so much to keep a great, hooky song from being even better. Listening to this one again, I was amazed to discover that it actually reached No. 3 on the pop charts in 1986. After all, I don't remember having heard this one at the time of its release, which makes me wonder if the fact that it sounds too much like a bad '80s movie's closing credits track has kept others from recognizing its quality as well. The Bangles sang background vocals on the original recording.

TIME AFTER TIME ~ CYNDI LAUPER

"Time After Time" is a single by singer Cyndi Lauper, the second from her album She's So Unusual. It reached number one on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart on June 9, 1984, and remained there for two weeks. Worldwide, the song is her most commercially successful single after "Girls Just Want to Have Fun", and reached number 3 on the UK Singles Chart and number 6 on the ARIA Singles Chart. "Time After Time" was nominated for Song of the Year at the 1985 Grammy Awards. The ballad is considered a classic of the 1980s and is still played frequently on adult contemporary radio. The song is known for its numerous covers by a wide range of artists, including an instrumental version by Miles Davis. This song stands tall among the music of the entire rock era as one of its all-time (sorry) great timeless (sorry again) ballads. It also happens to be Lauper's only No. 1 single, a pinnacle reached on both the pop and adult contemporary charts. Cowritten by Lauper with the Hooters' Rob Hyman, who has also contributed memorable songs to artists in subsequent decades (Joan Osborne and Dar Williams, for example), the tune is a solid love song of devotion built on tasteful synth and chiming guitar parts. As such, it probably still functions impeccably as a properly emotionally wrenching slow-dance favorite.

SHE BOP ~ BY CYNDI LAUPER

"She Bop" was the third commercially released solo single by American singer Cyndi Lauper. I was considering leaving this one off the list after determining that its uniquely frank treatment of the rarely breached subject of female masturbation alone was not enough to qualify it as indispensable. However, upon further consideration, I wondered if my general bias against dance music could be playing too much of a part in that decision. So I'm going to include this track as not only an imaginatively and provocatively executed pop concept song but also as yet another showcase for Lauper's singular, off-kilter vocal style. In addition, it doesn't hurt that the synth groove is one of the best of the decade. The song was controversial, owing to lyrics that addressed masturbation. Lauper said she wanted little kids to think the song was about dancing, and to understand the real meaning as they got older. She never directly stated in the song what the meaning of the song was, so it could receive airplay. To date, 'She Bop' is Lauper's third-highest charting and third-most commercially successful single worldwide, after "Girls Just Want to Have Fun" and "Time After Time".

PAPARAZZI ~ LADY GAGA

"Paparazzi" is a song by American recording artist Lady Gaga, released as the final single from her debut album, The Fame.
The song was written by Gaga to portray her struggles with her quest for fame. It is an up-tempo dance song whose lyrics describe a stalker following somebody to grab attention and fame. "Paparazzi" has been critically acclaimed for its fun-filled, club-friendly nature. The accompanying music video shows Gaga as a doomed starlet hounded by photographers, and gets almost killed by her boyfriend. It shows her survival, comeback, revenge on her boyfriend, and experiences on the way to fame. "Paparazzi" has a similar up-tempo composition to the previous singles "Just Dance" and "Poker Face" and carries a sultry beat.

BAD ROMANCE ~ LADY GAGA

"Bad Romance" is a song by American recording artist Lady Gaga. It is the lead single from her second studio album, The Fame Monster. The song was written by Gaga while touring and was inspired by German house-techno music. Lyrically it talks about being in love with one's best friend. Contemporary critics gave positive reviews of the song with the majority of them comparing the song to Gaga's second single "Poker Face". It has since reached number one on the UK Singles Chart, Irish Singles Chart, Canadian Hot 100 and the Swedish, German, Austrian and Danish charts, while peaking at number two in countries such as the United States, Australia and New Zealand. The accompanying music video takes place in a white bathhouse where Gaga is kidnapped by a group of supermodels who drug her and then sell her off to the Russian Mafia for sexual slavery. The video received positive response for its treatment and innovation with critics noting more its craziness and symbolic plot. Rolling Stone ranked the song number nine on their list of the "25 Best Songs of 2009"

MONEY CHANGES EVERYTHING ~ CYNDI LAUPER

"Money Changes Everything" is a song written by Tom Gray, frontman of The Brains, and was the band's only underground hit. It was recorded by Cyndi Lauper for her debut allbum, She's So Unusual and was released as a single in 1984, peaking at #27 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song is about how money interferes with interpersonal relationships. Lauper really nails her new wave aspirations and leanings with this cover of a tune originally recorded by the obscure Atlanta band the Brains in 1980. Lauper's version most certainly maximizes the song's commercial potential as opposed to the original, but it also brings out through its arrangement and Lauper's spirited vocal performance the memorable elements of the track that may have been hidden before. Rob Hyman, who would soon implement his distinctive melodica sound on hits from his band, the Hooters, offers a nice instrumental contribution here that lends the song a warm and lasting effect.Cyndi Lauper's recording of "Money Changes Everything" was released as the fifth single from her album She's So Unusual. It has been released in over 27 variations across the world, the most common being a two track 7" vinyl single (with varying covers). There was also a less common 12" vinyl single version. Lauper's cover features an appearance by Rob Hyman of the band The Hooters, playing his "hooter" (a Hohner Melodica) on the song's solo.

Mortgage and loans

Are you planning to buy a house though you’re afraid that your budget will not meet all those necessary expenses? Don’t worry; I think you and my auntie are on the same boat. My auntie is planning to buy a house and I have heard that she will be using the money she got from her loan and serve it as a down payment I think. Mortgage plays a very important role when it comes to loans. If you loan something from a company, lender will sometimes ask for a mortgage in insure himself that you will going to pay him for your debt. However, the competition between the mortgages take place on the interest rate. So it is better to look for the best mortgage rate first before dealing with anyone. I guess most mortgage rate shopper are very aware with this.

HOLE IN MY HEART ~ CYNDI LAUPER

"Hole in My Heart (All the Way to China)" is a song recorded by pop singer Cyndi Lauper for her 1988 film Vibes. It was written by Richard Orange, formerly of the band Zider Zee. The single was released in 1988 as a track from her first starring-role film, Vibes, co-starring Jeff Goldblum. The song failed to find an audience. The song is considered, among Lauper fans, a rarity and only appeared as a single in various formats including a 3" CD single in Japan. Lauper was also getting ready to release an album later that year called "Kindred Spirit" but the release was canceled, most likely due to the backlash of this release. Later on when Lauper released the album, now titled A Night To Remember, the track was not included on most formats of the album. It was only included on the Japanese edition as a bonus track and on the Japanese edition of Twelve Deadly Cyns...and Then Some. The song can also be found on the fan-acclaimed bootleg, Backsided, which was a fan-made project created to get rare Cyndi tracks into the CD player. The track finally saw the light of day on an official CD, as of 2003, with the release of the 3-CD compilation, The Great Cyndi Lauper.

Searching it on FilesBay

Are you familiar with the song being used as the official theme song of the “Nightmare on the Elm Street?” I just want to know the title because I found it so nice and I am planning to include it in one of my song I download in my mp3 player. I am a certified music lover. I love music of all kinds from different generations. I used to download mp3 files over the net. However, some of the sites that I have used are not as good as they provide some files that are broken and some are not working at all. Well, I am so happy that there are few sites that are well enough to be trusted like filesbay. I’ve been using this site for a long time and it never failed me. I can say that it is the best of the best files search engine over the web. They got everything I need and I can download it from their site in no time without worrying if the files are broking or if they are working or not. I think a lot of people are now embracing the benefits and advantages they could gain from this kind of file search engine. So again, for those who know what is the title of the song being used in the movie that I have mentioned, please tell me so I can search it on filesbay now! Thanks!

The Power of Wind

I guess all of you are very much aware with what Solar Power is and how Solar Power generators work. Solar powered generators convert the solar energy or the energy coming from the sun into electricity. This kind of generation system has been used in many ways. It can act as an alternate source when the electric power runs out. But did you know that there’s also such thing called Wind power? Yup! You heard that right! There are wind powered generators that are mainly use as the main source of electrical energy. Just like the solar power, these wind generators convert energy from wind to electricity. These will actually help those areas that haven’t reached yet by electricity. This wind turbine can also be used directly to a machine in which we called a “wind mill” which is mainly used for pumping water, grinding or cutting lumber. See how useful the wind is? Wind is more than just refreshing us up every time It breezes it can also be a source of energy that will help a lot of people. Speaking of wind turbines, you can check web site of the world’s leading provider of wind generators at http://www.windturbinestar.com/ and see more of what they offers and see how much wind generators can help you.

ALL THROUGH THE NIGHT ~ CYNDI LAUPER

"All Through the Night" is a song performed by American singer–songwriter Cyndi Lauper from her debut album She's So Unusual. After The Cars recorded their own version, which they did not use on any of their albums, Lauper decided to cover it. Although she initially intended to do a straight cover of Shear's version, she turned it into a pop ballad instead. The song was the only single released worldwide by Lauper that did not have a music video. It peaked at number five on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming Lauper's fourth top five single in the U.S. The song was mostly positively received by critics. An acoustic version was sung by Lauper on her 2005 album, The Body Acoustic. In this version, Shaggy provided backing vocals. While Lauper's She's So Unusual made the mistake at times of relying on songwriters other than Lauper herself (when she has always been quite capable of producing her own material), in this case the decision to draw from outside writers was a sparkling one. After all, the brilliant Jules Shear, who penned this beauty, remains one of pop's finest songwriters of the last 20 years that most people have never heard of. Luckily, the song's arrangement for Lauper keeps dated sonic elements to a minimum and always keeps the focus on the majesty of the tune's composition as well as its singer's fine interpretation of it.

GIRLS JUST WANNA HAVE FUN ~ CYNDI LAUPER

Girls Just Want to Have Fun" was the first major single released by singer Cyndi Lauper as a solo artist. It gained renown as a feminist anthem, an award-winning video and a worldwide smash hit. It has been covered on either an album or in live concert by over 30 other artists. Nearly four years after she should have become a household name as lead singer of the short-lived Blue Angel, Lauper burst through with a vengeance as an orange-haired, free-spirited, strong female artist upon the release of this iconic song. Though its most obvious strength was its memorable video clip that spotlighted Lauper's striking but genuine image, the tune itself actually holds up very well as a classic '80s track despite its apparent slightness. Melodically, it's a soaring success, and Lauper's singing is remarkably transcendent throughout, pushing the single to No. 2 on the pop charts in late 1983. The single reached number one in over ten countries, as well as reaching the Top 10 in over fifteen different countries. It reached number one in Australia, Canada, Ireland, Japan, New Zealand, and Norway, and number two in the United Kingdom and the United States. illian G. Gaar, author of She's a Rebel: The History of Women in Rock & Roll (2002), described the single and corresponding video as a "strong feminist statement", an "anthem of female solidarity" and a "playful romp celebrating female camaraderie.

MAYBE HE'LL KNOW ~ CYNDI LAUPER

"Maybe He'll Know" is the fifth and final single from Cyndi Lauper's album, True Colors, released only in Holland in 1987. It is a remake of a song that Lauper recorded with her former band, Blue Angel. This seems like the best place to start in a quest to suss out Lauper's best songs of the '80s, primarily because it originally surfaced on her underappreciated band Blue Angel's lone, eponymous release in 1980 before also showing up in a solo version of the tune on 1986's True Colors. It's also a great starting point to realize and explore, perhaps for the first time, just how great a singer Lauper was and is. Unfortunately, this fact has sometimes been obscured by a too-strong focus on her image and a tendency toward overproduction on most of her records. Still, her vocal performance on either version of this tune is mesmerizing.A remix of "Maybe He'll Know" - presumably created with the intention of single release in the U.S. - surfaced as the B-side to Lauper's "I Drove All Night".

American Idol Top 5

Okay! Last AI Elimination is really a heart breaking to me after Siobhan Magnus went off to Idol as she got the least number of votes out of the Top 6 finalist. I really like this girl and her attitude is what makes me feel that she's gonna win the game or reached the finale instead. Siobhan never been in the bottom three ever since the competition began. But honestly, Siobhan consecutively receiving not-so-good comments from the judges lately so maybe this is the reason of here elimination.

Oh by the way i forgot to update you about the Tim Urban's elimination. This is prior to Siobhan's elimination day.

so here's the remaining Top 5 contenders.. Who's your bet?
