"Open Arms" is a song originally recorded by American rock band Journey and written by Steve Perry and Jonathan Cain, two of the band's members. It is a ballad depicting the struggle of lovers who are trying to reconcile by starting anew with "open arms." It has been covered by the American pop/R&B singer Mariah Carey, Korean singer Younha, Taiwanese boyband 5566, country music singer Collin Raye, and the Contemporary R&B group Boyz II Men. "Open Arms" was used on the soundtrack to the animated Canadian film Heavy Metal (released to theatres in August 1981), and it was released as the third single from Escape in January 1982 in the United States. The song and its status as a power ballad has been remembered years following its original release. "Open Arms" is one of twelve greatest hits re-recorded by Journey featuring current lead vocalist Arnel Pineda on the second disc of their latest 2008 album Revelation.

Summer Vacation is getting near and i am very excited to it but our teacher told us yesterday that she will be leaving an assignment to us and have to be done during our vacation. It is a research paper that will tackle everything about summer. It sounds easy but i really have a hard time doing such research papers. I remember, i got a failing score with my research paper because i followed a wrong format. "Babe" was the lead single from Styx's 1979 triple-platinum album Cornerstone. The song was Styx's first, and only, U.S. number-one single.The song was written by member Dennis DeYoung as a birthday present for his wife Suzanne. The finished track was recorded as a demo with just DeYoung and Styx members John Panozzo and Chuck Panozzo playing on the track, with DeYoung singing all of the harmonies himself.The song was not originally intended to be a Styx track, but Styx members James "J.Y" Young and Tommy Shaw convinced DeYoung to put the song on Cornerstone. As a result, DeYoung's demo was placed on Cornerstone with Shaw overdubbing a guitar solo in the song's middle section. The track became a major hit, reaching #1 on the US Billboard Hot 100, and was their only major UK hit single, reaching #6.VH1 ranked it the second most "softsational" soft rock song of all time.
