KEEP ON LOVING YOU ~ BY REO SPEEDWAGON
"Keep On Loving You" is a power ballad written by Kevin Cronin and performed by REO Speedwagon. It features the lead guitar work of Gary Richrath. It was one of many REO Speedwagon songs to become a pop hit, reaching the number-one spot for one week in March 1981 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, and peaking at number seven in the UK Singles Chart. In 1981, the music video of the song was the 17th played on the first day of broadcast of MTV, on August 1. The music video contains a scene in which a woman picks up a phone whose cord is connected to Gary Richrath's guitar. This is a reference to the song 157 Riverside Avenue from their live album, You Get What You Play For, in which Kevin Cronin tells of Gary calling him and communicating through a guitar solo. The piano in the opening verse is looped and the two opening lines, "you should have seen by the look in my eyes, you should have known by the tone in my voice" are inserted into the rap song "Look in your eyes" by Jadakiss featuring Bleu DaVinci.
