"Tattoo" is the first single (second overall, including "This Is My Now") from American Idol Season 6 winner Jordin Sparks' eponymous debut album, Jordin Sparks. "Tattoo" was released to iTunes on September 25, 2007. "Tattoo" reached a peak position of number-eight on the US Billboard Hot 100, and number-six on the Billboard Pop 100 charts respectively, becoming Sparks' first top 10 hit. "Tattoo" was a slightly greater success in Canada, where it reached number-three on the Canadian Hot 100 and reached the top 10 on the Canadian airplay chart. The song has a more rhythmic pop vibe similar to "Irreplaceable" since it is produced by the same hitmakers Stargate. According to Sparks, she loved the song the first time she heard it and immediately recorded it. Even before the song's release, Jordin described it as being very "Beyoncé-ish"
